Feeling down? Your brain might just need a little fuel.

When blood sugar drops, your mood can dip too. It can leave you feeling irritable, foggy, and low-energy.

A balanced snack with protein, carbs, and fat helps keep your blood sugar steady and your mind clear.

Example: Egg bites, cheese, and a banana. Quick, simple, and mood-boosting.

Sometimes the first step to feeling better is just eating something.

I was out on a walk with my family when we noticed a statue holding a small rock. Someone had written on it:
You alone are enough. You have nothing to prove to anyone.

You don’t become worthy when you:
— Fit into those jeans.
— Watch the number on the scale go down.
— Finally have the body you think you “should.”

It’s a good reminder that you already are. Exactly as you are.

We put the rock back because someone else might need to see it too 🫶🏻

(Hadley actually posed with that statue a few weeks ago and it just felt right to include it.)

I gave myself a DIY haircut. Tried to convince myself it was good enough. 🤪🫢
But no matter how I styled it, it was still a DIY job.

The same goes for restrictive eating.
You can call it a reset, clean eating, detoxing, whole30, 75 hard or cutting back… the list goes on and on!!
But if it’s rooted in control, it’s still a diet.

What actually supports your body:
🫶🏻Eating at regular intervals
🫶🏻Including all food groups
🫶🏻Allowing satisfaction and enjoyment in your meals

Because your body deserves more than another disguised diet.

Want a smoothie that actually keeps you full? Here’s how **my husband** built one! (I can’t take credit for this beautiful camera work and I’m not sure you’d be convinced those are my hands either) 🤣🤣

A smoothie can serve as a quick meal or snack on the go. If you include all the food groups then it can hold you over until you eat again while providing energy, hydration and vitamins and minerals! There's no right way to make one but we recommend including:

✨ Grains & Starches

Oats – A slow-digesting carb with fiber that helps keep energy steady and prevents hunger from creeping back too soon.

✨ Protein

Milk, Yogurt, Protein Powder – Protein slows digestion, stabilizes blood sugar, and signals fullness, keeping you satisfied longer.

✨ Fats

Avocado, Peanut Butter – Slow digestion, trigger fullness hormones, and add creaminess, making the smoothie more satisfying.

✨ Fruits & Vegetables

Carrots, Spinach, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Mixed Berries – High in fiber and water, which increase volume, slow stomach emptying, and support fullness.

✨ Dairy

Milk & Yogurt – A combination of protein, fat, and carbs that work together to support fullness and provide lasting energy.

A smoothie should actually keep you full, not leave you hungry an hour later!! Would you try this??

As dietitians, one piece of advice we’ll never recommend is “eat less and move more.” 🚫

You’ve probably been there—pouring your heart into eating less and exercising more, only to end up feeling exhausted and discouraged. This well-meaning advice completely overlooks the complexity of your body.

At Hohl Nutrition Group, we’re a team of dedicated dietitians who believe in personalized, evidence-based nutrition guidance. We focus on what truly matters: your long-term well-being. 🌟

It’s no wonder “eat less and move more” has become so popular—it’s easy to remember and sounds like a surefire way to health. But this advice glosses over the unique needs of your body and can have unintended consequences.

Sticking to “eat less and move more” might actually slow down your metabolism, promote unhealthy eating habits, and put the emphasis on weight rather than health. It ignores your unique genetic makeup, leading to frustrating cycles of weight changes, stress, and a strained relationship with food and exercise. We encourage a more holistic, nurturing approach that supports your body’s real needs for lasting health and happiness. 💪

Why not get started with Hohl Nutrition Group? We’re here with practical tips to help you build a healthier relationship with food and wellness. 🌿🍎 We accept insurance, which often makes our visits at no extra cost to you. Stop feeling trapped in a cycle of diets and frustration—reach out today and take the first step towards a healthier you! 📞
